Dave Landis, President |
Dave is a retired manager with United Parcel Service. He was transferred to Columbia in 1996 when UPS opened the Air Hub at the Columbia Airport. He and his family fell in love with Lake Murray as they were getting to know the area and wanted to be on or near the lake. They settled in Lexington.
Dave was born and raised in Lancaster, PA, attended Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, W VA and served in the Navy for 5 years. Dave met his wife, Ginny Nuccio Landis, a Chicago native, while attending electronics school at the Great Lakes Navy Base. This fall they will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They have 2 children, 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. After 26 years of moving packages Dave retired in 2001. He joined the Lake Murray Association Board of Directors in 2004 and has served in various positions including vice president and president. |
![]() Joy Downs Executive Director Joy worked in banking and was a broker in her family's real estate business in Columbus, IN. Her family lived in Singapore, Atlanta GA, and Charlotte NC. Over the years, Joy has served as Secretary, President and Executive Director for the Lake Murray Association.
Joy's husband found Lake Murray when commuting to Columbia to check on his office and the rest is history. The lake was low at the time and it was difficult to get answers. Joy met with the late Rod Shealy, owner of The Lake Murray News in 1993. He announced a meeting from his newspaper and before we knew it the Lake Murray Association was up and running in 1994. |
![]() James McGrath Environmental Jim McGrath and his wife Marianne have lived on Lake Murray and have been members of the Lake Murray Association (LMA) since 2012. They chose Lake Murray to live on after an 18,000 mile adventure to find the perfect lake.
Jim oversees the environmental interests of LMA and runs the water testing program of LMA. Jim comes to LMA with a strong background in science having been a research chemist for over 30 years with major pharmaceutical companies and over 20 years of environmental monitoring on the lake he previously lived on.
