LMA ASSISTS 4H TO TEACH YOUNGSTERS ABOUT THE LAKE

Each year the 4H Division of the Clemson Extension Service runs a weeklong educational program for youngsters ages 10-12. The program runs in June every year. LMA along with SCE&G, USCGAux, DHEC and DNR assist 4H in the program. LMA provides pontoon boats for activities on the lake.

The youngsters spend the week learning about the history of the lake, the sources of the water, causes for pollution and how to prevent it, safe boating and what lives in the lake, among other things.

Besides spending 2 days learning about the lake while touring on the pontoons, the students will find time to fish, swim and have fun.

The classroom activities take place at the SCE&G park at the dam. The cost of the program is $100 per child.

For further information contact the Lexington County Extension Service at (803) 359-8515, ext 0. Students do not have to be 4H members or residents of Lexington County.
