Members of The Lake Murray Association are concerned that as development continues around the lake, water quality will deteriorate. We want to insure that doesn’t happen. Various multi-unit housing developments to include marinas and docks are either planned or already under development. We want to establish current water quality so any trend toward water quality deterioration can be detected before it becomes a serious problem.

Earlier this year we met with officials in The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) to get ideas for setting up a water quality monitoring program. We reviewed their Standard Operation Procedure for their water quality monitoring program currently in place in SC. We developed protocols for collecting samples and selected a DHEC-certified laboratory, Data Resources Inc., to analyze our samples.
