A Special Opportunity
for Special Ladies
“Ladies Only, Fun on the
Lake”
“Ladies Day on the
Lake” was held from 9:00 a.m. to
3:00 p.m. on June 15, 2010
at Lighthouse Marina, 1925 Johnson’s
Marina Road,
Ballentine, SC. The Lake Murray Association (LMA), SC Department of Natural
Resources (DNR), Lake Murray Power Squadron and Columbia Power Sports once
again hosted this popular annual event, which is open only to ladies 17
years of age and older.
The purpose of Ladies’ Day is to instruct women about the
elements of safe boating, including how to drive and dock a powerboat
safely, back a boat trailer into the lake, launch and retrieve a boat. Each
participant had the opportunity to get into a DNR boat to take her turn
operating it on the open water and to dock it at the marina. This was done
under the competent and patient guidance of the DNR instructors. A course
in the safe operation of personal watercraft was conducted again this year
by Columbia Power Sports. A safety presentation was conducted by two members
of the Lake Murray Power Squadron. This was just some of the activities for
this fun-filled day!
This event packed program on beautiful
Lake Murray is always a
sellout. We will endeavor to conduct another Ladies Day on the
Lake in 2011. After the first of the year start checking the LMA
web-site for the announcement with date, times and contact information.
